Musical instrument during British period:

• During this time, the music of North India began to attain and familiarize to the presence of Persian language, music, and musical instruments, e.g. the setar, from which the sitar acquired its name; the kamancheh and santur, which became prevalent in Kashmir; and the rabab (alternately famous as rebab and rubab), which lead the sarod.

• New instruments were also introduced, comprising the tabla and sitar, which soon became the most renowned Indian musical instruments worldwide
