Jainism follows Ahimsa( non-violence), i.e. avoiding causing any physical damage or harm to any living being. According to Jainism, it is referred to as 'Abhayadanam', that aims at protecting all life forms.

Vegetarianism and other rituals of Jainism come from the principle of Ahimsa. This extends to all life forms including animals, microorganisms, etc. The Jains consider the ten life principles to be very essential such as respiration, energy, life duration, organ of speech and mind and all the five sense organs.
