There are various approaches the political theory and one of the oldest one developed in Greece is Normative Political theory. Normative political theory is also known as imaginary, philosophical and ethical political theory as it focuses on ideas, values and morals rather than empirical methods of politics.

It focuses on what should be the end  of political institutions. What should inform the relationship between the individual  and other social organisations etc. Normative Political theory is a project of philosophical speculation about values. It also focuses on detailed study of political thinkers.

The term “Normative” means something that relates to the ideal model or the standard.

It also means being based on that which is believed to be the actual way of doing a particular thing.

This term finds its place in various disciplines like social sciences, philosophy, law and so on.

The Normative political theory was first developed in ancient Greece.

This later provided the foundations for various political researches.
