the cheap British fabric flooded the Indian market ,high duties were imposed in Indian goods around 400% and no duty on British goods ,the demand of high quality Indian goods decreased drastically as cheap British markets filled American ,African and European markets,Indian weavers didn't get any advance money for the fabric they produced and the prices came down very quickly, they had to leave their work and search for some other work like labourers,many abandoned their houses and migrated to some other state in search of work.it was the time of misery for them.
