Answer:

How was the women's position in Mahabharata?

The timeline of the Mahabharata events was the Late-Vedic period. Earlier, during the times of the Rig-Veda and the primary Upanishads, women by and large enjoyed a high status in society, in terms of both scope for education and relative freedom from gender discrimination. The high status and respect enjoyed by learned ladies like Gargi and Maitreyi are evidence that the ‘glass ceiling’ was not so prevalent then as a roadblock to women’s advancement in society. The Manu-Smrti, which is basically a compilation of Vedic Laws, unequivocally states the reverence with which women were to be treate

Regarding the last paragraph. I recall reading incident of Mahabharat where Draupadi is making an argument with Yudhisthir, and rest of the Pandavas. Which is all good until they come to an end of discussion where she is asked where did she get all this knowledge. She answers she learnt this by overhearing one of the sage. That means that women were not allowed to learn. (Unfortunately I cannot recall the exact book name. probably it was BORI's Mahabharat)

By the examples of Gargi we can say that in Vedic period they were allowed to study but during Mahabharat era this seems to be not plausible.

hahahah no evidence provided to prove that the timeline of Mahabharata was from the late vedic period

My personal opinion is - pathetic position

You may agree or disagree, my opinion is, women is treated as either non existent or second class citizens in every religion, in hindu dharma we have the concept of soul and talk about consciousness, but again the society for its own selfishness, degraded position of women against the scriptures

Coming to mahabharat

When a princess can be humiliated in the court of hastinapur, full of warriors, then what we can think about a normal women

Mahabharat time was also highly male dominated, women was second class citizens there

Some people then say, mahabharat w

Women as a human is modern concept by modern I mean post 1900’s.

An essential quality to be judged as a human is right to use brains and follow the heart

In Mahabharat, or Ramayana or any of the purana and middle ages, women were property to be passed on from a father to husband. To be lived under the protection of first father, then husband and after husband's death under the protection of son.

Society has been patriarchal in the known history of human civilization.

Of course they have been treated well by some heroes in our stories not all though. A lot of heroes get away with ill treating them under the pretext of being bound by Dharma.

Women is not deemed equal to a man in patriarchy -

In Patriarchy a woman is supposed to shut down her brains and heart. She cannot make a choice for herself or any important decisions regarding her life
