Hi students!
The ion exchange resins are used to carry softening of water. To carry out the water, softening calcium or magnesium are to be removed. This process is done by using resin so as the hard water passed through the resin, it takes calcium and magnesium by releasing sodium ions in the solution. Then the solution is passed down the resin bed through which sodium ions are exchanged from hard water by making it soft.
