Uncertainty and insecurity: The basic problems of street vendors is insecurity and uncertainty as their profession is considered illegal, but according to government of India assessment done in 2004 shows around 2.5% of local poor urban population survive by working in this occupation.

We common people know or have a view about vendors and hawkers as people on the roadside selling food items , fruits , vegetables , etc. Also we see some customers bargaining with them . Because of which they suffer the loss. Sometimes if any of their sold items like food preparations , fruits and vegetables are rotten or faulty, they are held responsible. But maybe they ( hawkers and vendors) may have also bought fruits or veggies from any wholesaler. Sometimes , they are forced to move from their place which was permanent at a time . Becoz of which they wander. So there are many more problems they face.
