Ranga's homecoming was a great event in the village. The villagers wanted to see this boy who had come back to his village from a big city. The crowd stood in the courtyard of the accountant's house. They were greatly surprised to see that Ranga was the same as he was six months before when he had left. An old woman who was standing near Ranga, ran her hand over his chest, looked into his eyes and said that since he wore the sacred thread, it meant that he had not lost his caste.
