Answer:

1.HCL

HCl helps in the proper digestion of food and also helps to kill the germs which is present in the food.

2.SALAIVA

Saliva helps in partial digestion of food by chewing and churning it in the mouth for breaking down the complex food item.It secreted an enzyme called Salivary Amylase which helps in partial digestion.

3.VILLI

Villi(s) are small finger-like projections on the walls of small intestine. It increases the surface area of small intestine and helps in proper and faster absorption of nutrients from the digested food item directly into the blood.

The role of HCL :

  • the proenzyme pepsinogen, on exposure to HCL gets converted to the active enzyme pepsin which conert proteins into proteases and peptones (peptides).
  • the HCL provides an acidic medium (pH1.8)which is optimum for pepsin, kills bacteria and other harmful organisms and aviods putifaction.

The role pf saliva:

  • the saliva contain water, electrolytes, salivary amylase, antibacterial agent lysozyme and a lubricating agent mucus.
  • the mucus in saliva prepares the food for swallowing by moistening, softening, lubricating and adhering the masticated into bolus.
  • about 30% of polysacchrides, starch is hydrolsed by salivary amylase enzyme into disacchrides.

The role of villi:

  • they help in nutrient absorption
