Explanation:

Opening and closing of stomata is an important event in process of photosynthesis along with gaseous exchange large amount of water loss

(Transpiration)Also occurs through stomata. plants close stomata when they do not need carbon dioxide and want to conserve water this opening and closing of stomata caused by the change in the turgid of guard cells when it is fully inflated with water due to high sugar content in it when guard cells are turgid stomatal pore open and when guard cells loses water the stomatal pore closes

... Guard cells regulate the opening and closing of the stomata; allowing carbon dioxide and oxygen to be exchanged between the leaf and the atmosphere. The guard cells absorb water and become turgid- opening the stomata- during the day.
