In regards to the difference between sales promotion and personal selling, is that sales promotion uses offers, incentives, and schemes to boost the sales. In contrast, personal selling is where a sales representative displays the product to the potential customers by directly going to them.

Therefore, it can be said that advertising is also an act of promoting the product. Advertising is done to build brand image and increase sales, whereas Promotion is used to push short-term sales. Advertising is one of the elements of promotion while the promotion is the variable of the marketing mix.

Personal Selling is a marketing tool in which the sales person presents the goods to the customers and instigates them to purchase it. Sales Promotion is a range of non-personal marketing activities that are carried on to initiate sales of product and service.
