the sun is a huge ball of gases made of hydrogen and helium.
parts of the sun:

corona-it is the outermost layer of the sun's atmosphere and consists o gases at very low densities. the temperature of this layer is about 17,00,000 c . from here hot gases shoot out wards forming immense clouds called prominences.

chromosphere-about 2500 km thick , the chromosphere is the middle layer of sun's atmosphere.at times it expands upto 16,000km due to outburst of gases.the temperature here is 28000 c.

photosphere-it has a thickness of about 55o km and a temperature of about 6000km.it basically forms the surface of the sun

core- it consists most of the mass of the sun. nuclear fusion of takes place converting hydrogen to helium. the temperature here is about 20 million degree c

"Salient aspects of structure of sun and the various activities in the sun are:

  • The Sun is an important star and it is very close to the earth. The diameter of Sun is 110 times the size of the Earth.
  • The Sun rotates about its axis every 25 days.
  • There are dark patches on the surface of the Sun.
  • The sunspot can be defined as the region on the "surface of the Sun" which consists of various gasses."
