under British rule , the British had a monopoly on the manufacture os salt in india.
their main aim was to collect more revenue from the Indians.so they imposed tax on the manufacture of salt.Tax on such an indispensable commodity was unbearable and unjust. So mahatma Gandhi started a satyagraha against it.
