The powers of the Prime Minister are as follows:-

i) He chairs Cabinet meeetings.

ii) He coordinates the work of different departments.

iii) His decisions are final in case any disagreements arise between Departments.

iv) All ministers work under his leadership. He distributes and redistributes work to the ministers.

v) He has the power to dismiss ministers.

vi) If the Prime Minister quits, the entire ministry quits.

The significance of the Prime Minister is that he/she is the leader of the ruling party. He/she has the support of the majority in Parliament which allows them to have a greater power over legislation and any other policy decisions that pass through the Parliament. Also, in Cabinet meetings he/she is the one in charge.
