Brahmo samaj was setup by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in 1828.

Important social reforms by brahmo samaj was:-

1) sati pratha - that was prevalent in India, raja ram mohan roy and it's brahmo samaj fought against the sati pratha , finally in 1829 brithis government &   Governor general Lord william bentic passed a resolution against sati pratha  and declare sati is a illegal, genocide offence .

2)  banned on Child marriage -

3) encourage women education

4) abolition Of dowry.
