Lying entirely in the northern hemisphere India is bounded by the Himalayas in the north, it stretches southwards through the Tropic of Cancer, tapers off into the Indian Ocean between the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. India has many advantages of being placed at the top of the Indian Ocean.

India has its islands reaching to the far south. It can make any of the islands as naval deployment place. India can control trade links with Gulf of Aden as well as Malacca strait by allowing movement of the ships in these regions.
