 The tribes of North East India are stratified on the basis of tradition, religion, language, territory, power, gender, etc.

 Each tribal group is different from the other in terms of its social, economic and political systems.

This stratification has been done to conserve the ethnicity of each group and each tribal in a clan is understood in terms of the relationship she/he has with the whole tribe.
