Memory and Imagination. “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” argues for a strong connection between experience, imagination, and language. The poem itself is a memory, focused on bringing the speaker's experience of seeing daffodils back to life on the page through the concentrated power of the imagination.

The Daffodils is a poem about forming memories and introspection. It begins with the poet describing his carefree state of mind, then his surprise and reactions on coming across swathes of daffodils and finally, how they affected him in the long term.Sometimes we aren’t aware of the significance of an event while it is unfolding. Sometimes the most trivial things stick in our minds and brighten our mood. Each of us has a happy place that we go to in our minds when we are lounging about. For Wordsworth, it was the daffodils.
