The Treaty of Versailles was the major cause of World War II. The stipulations of the Treaty of Versailles were specifically aimed at making Germany as weak as possible. ✳INTRODUCTION

At Paris, on June 28,1919 *The treaty of versallies* was signed.It ended the first World War. The basis of treaty's negotiations was the American President Wilson's Fourteen Points. The treaty was designed to prevent Germany from going to war again.

✳The main terms of Treaty were :--

▶The treaty declared Germany as the guilt of aggression. Germany was required to pay first the loses and damages suffered by the allies during the war. The amount of reparations was fixed at 33billion dollars.

▶Germany had to cede her merchant ships to the allies as compensation and had to supply huge quantities of coal to France, Italy and Belgium for ten years.

◽The coal mines in the Germany areas called SAAR were ceded to France for 15 years.

◽Germany lost her colonies to victorious allies -Britian, Belgium, South Africa and Portugal.

◽Germany lost Alsace Lorraine to France. Eupten -et-Malmedy to Belgium, Schleswig to Denmark. Danzig became a free port in the Polish territory.

▶The areas of the Rhine valley was to be demilitarized and the Germany territory west of Rhine was to be occupied by the Allied Troopes for 15 years.

◽The Germany army was restricted to a force of 1,00,000 soldiers and Navy was limited to 15,000 men and 24 ships. The Air Force and submarine were banned.
