The stalled ox is a humorous short story by the British author Hector Hugh Munro; a witty Story about a painter who specialises in pastoral landscapes with grazing cows, and is asked by his irritating neighbour to drive a stray ox out of her garden. Unfortunately, his reluctant attempts only result the ox to move from the garden and into the morning room. This hilarious scenario ends up in the ox being stationed leisurely in his Novel surroundings. The ox decides to explore this new space, munching on anything edible. Meanwhile, the painter Eshley, having received enough verbal abuse from the ungrateful neighbour finally decides to take charge of the situation and ends up painting the biggest master piece of his life. ‘The Stalled Ox’ becomes the highlight of his career, giving him unprecedented success. Hence, the title of the story ‘ The Stalled Ox’
