Answer: Uranium and  plutonium are one of the widely  used radio active elements  in nuclear reactors . Uranium 256 is the main  one .nuclear energy is harnessed by 2 processes

  1. Fusion
  2. Fission

In nuclear fusion atoms combine together creating  a lot of energy

IN the case of fission the neutron of an atom is collapsed with the neucleons of other atom which produces new nuecleons thus creating tons of energy

both the process are  happening in our daily life

nuclear reactors do not pollute our atmosphere  but  they pollute water bodies and soil by releasing toxic substances

this process also happens inside our very own star the sun in the sun 600 hydrogen is turned into helium this process of fusion will continue until it reaches iron  if we our sun was massive enough it would  have turned into a black hole or a neutron star but for our sun as the fuses helium to heavier elements the outer layer will fade away and it will turn into a white dwarf

Hope this became a satisfied answer
