In the upper course river perform very intensive erosional activities due to their large volume of water and velocity. And Cary huge amount of silt and sediment.

As a result they form steep valley sides,interlocking spurs, gorges and waterfalls.

In the lower course the velocity of river get lowered and deposition occur. Here delta is formed.
