Social media changes the way people interact with each other by offering more convenience but less quality. With social media, it is quicker and simpler to contact people, while easier to meet new individuals as well. Ultimately, however, social media provides people with less interpersonal skills, a lack of conflict resolution and very little privacy. Consequently, social media diminishes the constitution of social interaction for the modern generations. With social media such as Facebook, communication has never been quicker. Finally, meeting people has never been so easy; with group pages and information based on the user’s profile, Facebook recommends people with similar interests. With event pages, one can see what is occurring in the community as well as events that may interest them. People that the user knows can also invite the individual to the events as well, bringing a bigger community together into one event. Facebook also provides games that allow one to send out game request such as ‘Candy Crush’ or ‘Farmville’ (Facebook, 2011) to anyone who does or doesn’t play the game, and to ask them to aid in helping solve a level or get supplies needed to achieve the goal: this allows the individual to interact with strangers and make new connections and probably new friends in the making. “Research has found that viewing and editing personal information on Facebook profiles predicts user’ self-esteem increases” (Danielewicz, 2012) thus having social media like Facebook will increase self-esteem while providing an opportunity to meet new people and do it simply and evifensaly . Mass online social networking services have provided people with a wide range of ways to connect with others which makes it accessible through many devices, people can use it anywhere at any time and thus do not need to interact with people; consequently they interact with people in less significant ways and develop less interpersonal skills.
