Degradation is the context of developing policies that mainly reduces emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+).

Degraded land also mainly referred as the areas with low carbon stocks.

Areas have minimal tree covered with absence of peat and they do not contain carbon as natural forests do in much more efficient manner.
