Answer: Some of the main factors that contribute to xenophobia might be :

CULTURAL CHANGES - People see it as a threat when someone from a foreign land tries to blend in among them in a way that is responsible for bringing cultural differences.

For example, it is regarded as too much intimacy between opposite sexes to cuddle or shake hands in a particular culture; but the person from foreign land sees it as a friendly gesture.

It makes locals worry about what changes could such gestures bring in their culture; they held the foreigner responsible for it. Therefore, leading to xenophobic behavior.

2. CRIMINAL RECORDS - Another factor responsible for xenophobia being prevalent is the criminal records or events or history related to one's place of origin or country.

People begin to act skeptical about every move made by a person who belongs to such a region or country with criminal records and linked to events of atrocities.

Example - Germans are always seen as unkind or a threat at first.

3. EMPLOYMENT - Employment rates going down for the locals could be one of the significant reasons for them to be xenophobic.

They feel that influx of employees from more developed and foreign nations may lead to lesser opportunities for them in the employment sector and they might need to learn more in years to come to beat foreign employees in competition for the position.

So locals eventually start building hatred towards them and develop the fear of foreign people living among them, using their resources and confiscating their jobs.

I would have suggested the improvement in production methods to ensure higher production. Markets will be differently focused such that richer will be focused for weaved products and poor for the coarse cloths. The factories that were fully drowned are suggested to change their occupation either focus on cotton or agriculture
