the most apparent being the Great Depression. The Weimar Republic did little to remedy the country's economic downfall, and Hitler was presented as a saviour to the humiliated German people living in economic and political crises. The powerful speeches of Hitler in which he sought to build great nation, undo the injustice of the Versailles Treaty, restore the dignity of German people and provide employement for all stirred hopes in people.Nazi propganda was unique. Red banners with the Swastika, Nazi salute and the rounds of applause attracted the people making Nazism very popular.
Why did Nazism become popular in Germany by 1930?
As we all know that in 1918 , how badly Germany was treated in the treaty of Versailles. After having a hasty defeat in world war 1 , there was very much aggression among the Germans and that also because of the heavy reparation that Germany had to pay to winner countries , about 6.6 billion Euros. Like I agree that only Germany was not a single country that was defeated in the war , there were Austria - Hungary too that were defeated. But the war reparations had to be paid by Germany only.
So , after the war was over and Germany painfully accepted its defeat , Adolf Hitler who was only a soldier fighting on the side of Germany , went into deep sorrow by the unjust with Germany at Versailles .
He started giving speeches in the streets of Munich , a German city and dared to said those things which the germans know but didn't dared to say publicly. He rose hope of revenge in the blood of Germans. With this , he in 1919 joined the German workers party , which he renamed as National socialist german workers party or known as NSDAP. Later this came to be known as the Nazi party. The Germans saw a new and rising leader in hitler, so they voted for his party in 1930s elections in which the Nazis got 107 votes. This was the highest ratio of votes in the 1930s elections.
With all these things a new ideology came to power in Germany which was called the Nazi ideology.
