The dissolving of salt in water is a physical change because only the state of matter has changed and physical change is reversible .Allowing the water to evaporate the salt will change to solid state. It has not combined with water to cause a chemical reaction. So it is often said that physical change is reversible. And dissolving of salt in water is a physical change
