India is the largest democracy in the world with most number of people belonging to different faiths, religions, cultural backgrounds have been coexisting for centuries. India has predominantly been a secular and tolerant nation where people have always enjoyed the freedom to hold onto their own faith , religion and cultural background. The 29 states and 7 union territories are the living proof of this fact. Each state is different and people living in them speak different languages, have different peculiar cultures. Almost in all states and union territories the society is predominantly pluralistic. To make long story short, India is already practising secularism in spite of being a country to highly spiritual and religious people hailing from all different religious communities. The need of the hour is rising above this secularism and communalism as all different cultures, religions, and secret spiritual societies
aim to worship the same God. Their modus operandi may be different but basically they are the same. So India should follow whatever -ism, but it should promote pluralism, freedom to choose any way of the spiritual or religious faith without compromising the national goals. Nation should be foremost and all else subservient to it.
