Disodium EDTA is used for titration :

-because it is the most commonly used form of the versatile organic complexing agent, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid which is commonly known as EDTA.

- because the reaction conditions can be adjusted, either by controlling the pH or by using masking agents, and then selection of the proper indicator allows a very wide variety of metal ions to be determined using EDTA.

-due to this reason, it is used for the determination of many metal ions either by direct titration or by back-titration.
