In optics , dispersion is the phenomenon in which the white light splits into seven colors when it passes through a material medium in which different colors of light posses different speeds.
Examples~
Example:1: Formation of Rainbow during a cloudy day.
Example:2: Through a window glass light reflects as well as refracts. We can observe the objects through the glass due to refraction (light passes through the glass). We can also observe the reflection as we can observe our own image by looking at the same window glass.

Dispersion is the phenomena of splitting up of white light into its seven constituents colours called as Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green,Yellow, Orange and Red in a dispersive media like prism , water etc...
Dispersion occurs because of different frequency of light bend at different angles when they enter a material medium.
Dispersion Phenomenon in Daily Life:
---> Natural Rainbow occurs in sky due to Refraction, Dispersion, Total internal reflection.
---> Artificial rainbow can be produced by using white light, prism and screen.
--> Artificial rainbow can be produced by sunlight and water droplets.
