It is true when a body moves in a circular path or when the body comes to the initial position. In these cases displacement is 0 but distance is not 0.when a body moves in a circular path having radius r and returns to its initial position then displacement is 0 and distance is 2πr.But the converse is not true because distance is a scalar quantity. If it is 0 then displacement will be 0 but if displacement is some 29m then distance shoukd be greater than or equal to the displacement.

Thus Displacement may be zero even when distance travelled is not zero

when a person goes in a circle and comes back to the initial position, the net displacement is 0.  In the case, the distance travelled is equal to the circumference of the circular path.

If the distance traveled is zero, it means that the person never traveled from the initial position.  The person or the body is at rest.  Hence, it means that displacement is zero.
