Displacement reactions involve a metal and a compound of a different metal. In a displacement reaction: a more reactive metal will displace a less reactive metal from its compounds.

A more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal from its salt solution. When a more reactive metal is placed in the salt solution of a less reactive metal,then the more reactive metal displaces the less reactive metal from its salt solution.
