Solution:

2x + 4y  = 8

x + 2y  = 6

2/1 = 2

4/2 = 2

8/6 = 4/3

2 = 2 ≠ 4/3

Inconsistent  - No solution

Parallel lines  

x      2x + 4y = 8        x + 2y  = 6
