Cold air is denser and sinks. That increases the pressure on the surface of the earth.
Warm air is less dense and rises. That decreases the pressure.
It is as simple as that. If it wasn’t for the Coriolis effect of the earth’s rotation, the warm air rising over the equator would probably travel to the poles where it sinks. The Coriolis causes a right-hand spin in the northern hemisphere and two belts of high pressures of sinking air at about latitudes 30 N and 30 S. But then, between that and the poles, the warmer air rises over the colder one, causing low pressures at about latitudes 60 N and 60 S.
But then; as moisture condenses when the rising air cools by adiabatic effect of a lesser pressure, it releases latent heat energy and that keep the air buoyant and rising. This is why a maritime climate near the oceans, will experience deeper low pressures than in a continental climate region.

Applications of pressure:-
1) A syringe consists of a tight-fitting piston which moves in a cylinder, with a nozzle at one end also works with the help pressure.
