displacement depends on direction so it is a vector..

for ex. if someone walks 8 km then returns to the initial position then distance = 8 +8 but displacement = 0

displacement is the vector quantity here because in vector Quantity we need to have the magnitude as well as the direction.Here direction only has magnitude while displacement has both magnitude and direction.So, displacement here is the vector Quantity.
