Given :- Distance b/w the two places a and b is 350 kilometre . Two cars started from a and b towards each other , the distance b/w them after 4 hours is 62 km. If the speed of one car is 8km/h less than the speed of the other car, find the speed of each car .

To find :- The speed of each car .

Solution :-

If , distance b/w the two places a and b → 350 km

Let , the speed of a → x km/h

Then , the speed of b → ( x - 8 ) km/h

They travelled for 4 hours ,

The distance covered by both of them

in 4 hours =

By a → 4 × x = 4x

By b → 4 × ( x - 8 ) = 4x - 32

Now , the distance left to complete → 62 km

ATQ ,

⇒ 4x + 4x - 32 + 62 = 350 km

⇒ 8x + 30 = 350 km

⇒ 8x = 320 km

⇒ x = 40 km

If , x = 40 km

x - 8 = 40 - 8 = 32 km

Hence , a moves with speed 40 km/h while b moves with speed 32 km/h
