Wavelength λ of a wave is defined as the distance between two consecutive compressions or rarefactions . As we know that between two consecutive compressions , there is a rarefaction or vice-versa , therefore distance between a compression and consecutive rarefaction will be λ/2 .

given λ/2=100m ,

or λ=2×100=200m

10cm

Explanation:

(8-3) rarefactions=50cm(wavelength)

=5 rarefaction=50cm

= 1 rarefaction=(50/5)cm

=1 rarefaction = 10cm
