Answer:

10:40 p.m

Step-by-step explanation:

The distance between P & Q = 240 km

The time at which the two motorcyclist started their ride = 8:00 p.m

The speed of motorcyclist who started from point P to Q = 40 kmph

The speed of motorcyclist who started from point Q to P = 50 kmph

Let the both motorcyclist meet at distance x from point P.

We know ,

time = \frac{distance}{speed}  =  \frac{x }{40}  = \frac{240 - x}{50}

⇒ 50 x = 9600 - 40 x.

⇒ 90 x = 9600

⇒ x = 960/9

⇒ 240 - ( 960/9) = 400 /3

\frac{960}{9 * 40} = time = 8 /3 hour.

The time at which they meet =  8 :00 p.m + 8 /3 = 10:40 p.m
