Assume both motorcycle rider meet x hours after 8 p.m.

Distance covered by motorcycle rider 1 starting from P in x hours = 40x km

Distance covered by motorcycle rider 2 starting from Q in x hour = 50x km

Total distance = 240 km

40x + 50x = 240

40x + 50x = 240

90x = 240

x = 240 ÷ 90

x = 2 hour 60 minute

Hence, they meet 3 hours after 8 p.m. i.e., they meet at 10 p.m.
