Distance = √( x2 -x1)²+( y2-y1)²

Here points are(x, -1)and (-2,3)

Distance between the points on=2√2.

Here x1=x, x2=-2,y1=1,y2=3

2√2 = √(-2-x)²+ (3-1)²

Squaring on both sides.....

(2√2)²= [√(-2-x) ²+(3-1)²] ²

8 = (-2-x)² +(3-1)²

8 = [(2)²+x²-2×(2)(x) +(3)²+1²-2×(3)(1)]

[Since (a-b) ²= a²+b²-2ab]

8 = 4+x²- 4x+9 +1-6

8 = x² -4x+8

X² -4x = 0

X(x-4) = 0

X-4 = 0/x

:. X = 4
