When we talk about displacement we mean that displacement is the straight line diffrence between the initial and the final position of the body.
If you throw a ball upwards, it goes up and comes back. Thus it's final position is the same as it's initial position but it has covered some distance while going up and coming down!
Thus Distance is never zero but displacement can be zero!
