See..there are various quantities in physics called physical quantities. The numeral value in it is called the magnitude. we say that a car travelled 20 m .Here we are specifying the magnitude i.e., 20. whereas we say that the displacement is 10 m towards east. here we specify the Magnitude as well as the direction.
