Distilled water cannot conduct electricity because it does not contain ions while rain water conducts electricity as it contains ions due to presence of dissolved salts in it.

To conduct electricity, water needs ions or dissolved salts in it. In distilled water, there is no ion or dissolved salts present. Hence, distilled water does not conduct electricity.
