Explanation:
Difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration
Aerobic respiration:
- The oxidative breakdown of respiratory substrates in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration
- The glycolysis takes place in cytoplasm and Krebs cycle takes place in mitochondria.
- The end products formed are CO2 and H2O.
- A large amount of energy is released.
- ex.humans,animals etc...
Anaerobic respiration:
- The oxidative breakdown of glucose in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.
- The complete process Glycolysis and Krebs cycle takes place in cytoplasm.
- The end products formed are ethanol or latic acid.
- A small amount of energy is released.
- ex. yeast,some bacteria.
