Himalayan river
- Longer courses with high erosional activity.
- They have well developed deltas.
- In their middle and lower courses they form meander, ox- bow lake and other depositional feature in their floodplains.
- Examples are Indus, Bharmaputra ,and their tributaries.
Seasonal river of southern India
- Shorter and shallower courses.
- Those originated in central highland and flowing westward from estuaries , while those originated from western ghat and flowing eastward from deltas.
- Some of them became tributaries of Himalayan river.
- Example are Narmada and Tapi Mahanadi, Godavari, krishna and Kaveri.
