n Hexyl bromine is a halo alkane . therefore it shows higher reactivity towards nucleophilic substitution than bromobenzene which is a haloarene
On heating with aqueous KOH it forms KBr and n Hexyl alcohol
CH3 (CH2)4 CH-Br + KOH----> CH3 (CH2)4 CH-OH +KBr
The reaction mixture on acidification with dilute nitric acid followed by treatment with silver nitrate produces a yellow precipitate of silver bromide
KBr + AgNO3---->AgBr +KNO3
In contrast bromobenzene doesnot undergo hydrolysis with aq KOH
Bromobenzene + KOH --->No reaction
Therefore on treating the reaction mixture with dilute nitric acid followed by silver nitrate does not produce a yellow precipitate
