WESTERN GHATS :

 1. Western Ghats are continuous Chain of hills starting from Tapti valley in the North to Kanyakumari in the South.

2.Run almost Parallel to West Coastal Plain

3. Western Ghats act as a Climatic barrier to the South - West monsoon winds.

EASTERN GHATS :

1. Eastern Ghats are discontinuous chain of hills from Mahanadi River in north and Vaigai River in the south .

2. Run parallel to the East Coastal Plain

3. Eastern Ghats lie on the rain shadow region of the South - West monsoon Winds

BHABAR:

1.)Bhabar region lies along the foot of the Siwaliks from the Indus to the Tista.

2.)Bhabhar is 8 to 16 km wide.

3.)Bhabhar comprises of pebble-studded rocks in the shape of porous beds.

TERAI:

1.) Terai belt lies to the south of Bhabhar and run parallel to it.

2.)Terai is 20 to 30 km wide.

3.)Terai is composed of comparatively finer alluvium and is covered by forest.

BHANGAR

1)the old alluviam is known as Bhangar

2)it is known as 'dhaya' in Punjab

3)it is not much suited for cultivating

KHADAR

1)the new alluviam is known as khadar

2)it is called 'bet' in Punjab

3) intensive agriculture is practised here
