when a host exposed to antigens,which may be in the form of living or dead microbes Or other proteins antibodies are produced in the host body. It is called active immunity.

  • Active immunity is slow and takes time to give it's full effective response.

  • injecting the microbes deliberately during immunisation.

when ready - made antibodies are directly given to protect the body against foreign agents, this is known as passive immunity.

  • IgG antibody which is transferred from mother to foetus through placenta during 20th week of pregnancy.it is an example of passive immunity
