the following are the differences between Island and Peninsula

  • Island is an isolated mass of land where as Peninsula is a part of a particular land mass.
  • Island is covered on all sides by water where is Peninsula is covered only on three sides
  • examples for Islands are Antarctic and Arctic Islands examples for Peninsula are the Indian peninsula which is covered on three sides by Indian Ocean, Arabian sea and bay of Bengal

Answer: An island is a piece of land surrounded by water on all 4 sides while a peninsula is a piece of land that is covered by water only on 3 sides and the remaining side is connected to a larger piece of land like a continent Eg:India
