PQLI was developed by Morris D. Morris in the year 1979 whereas the HDI was created by Mahbub ul Haq in 1990.
PQLI was mainly developed to measure the economic development of the country, whereas the HDI was created to measure the social as well the economic development.
India's HDI rank in the year 2010 is #119. PQLI includes three indicators, they are lifetime expectancy, infant mortality, and literacy.
